MEMBERSHIP

Membership of the Physiotherapists Registration Board

Pursuant to section 88(1) of the Physiotherapists Registration Act 2001 the Board comprises 11 members, of whom:

a) Three are to be registered physiotherapists elected by registered physiotherapists in accordance with the regulations

• Ms Virginia Binns
  Dr Debra Shirley
  Ms Maria Quinlivan
  
  8 are appointed by the Governor in accordance with Subsection (2) which states that the appointed members are to be:

• (a) 1 person nominated by the Minister, being an officer of the Department of health or an employee of an area health service, statutory health corporation or affiliated health organisation within the meaning of the Health Services Act 1997;

• Mr. David Cross

  (b) 1registered physiotherapists nominated by the Minister from panel of physiotherapists nominated by the Australian Physiotherapy Association, (NSW), and such other bodies representing physiotherapist as may be determined by the Minister New South Wales Branch

• Mr. David Young

  (c) 1 registered physiotherapist nominated by the Minister involved in the tertiary education of persons for qualification in NSW as physiotherapists

• Ms Vicki Williams

  (d) 1 registered physiotherapist practising physiotherapy in NSW nominated by the Minister of the Minister's own choosing

• Ms Anne Deans

  (e) 3 persons nominated by the Minister, at least 2 of whom are not registered physiotherapists and are nominated to represent the community;

• Associate Professor Ian Cameron
• Ms Lai Wong
• Ms Sandra Everett

  (f) 1 legal practitioner nominated by the Minister

• Ms Christine Campbell

  Schedule 2, clause 2 (1) of the Act provides that;

  Of the members of the Board;

  (a) one who is a registered physiotherapist is to be appointed as President of the Board and

• Ms Anne Deans

(b) One is to be appointed as Deputy President of the Board

• Dr Debra Shirley
  
  The Board was appointed in December 2006 for a four year term
